Chapin Branch of Lexington County Public Library Kicks Off Summer 2026

The Lexington County Public Library is launching its Summer 2026 lineup at the Chapin Branch Library with a Summer Reading Kickoff celebration on Tuesday, May 26, from 2–4 p.m.

The kickoff event will feature a foam party in the parking lot, along with face painting, balloon animals, snacks, and arts and crafts activities. Participants planning to enjoy the foam party are encouraged to bring a towel.

Families attending the event can register for the library’s summer reading program, browse new and popular titles, and pick up a complete summer activities schedule featuring programs for children, teens, and adults throughout the season.

Adult Programs

  • Local Authors Fair — Thursday, June 4, from 1–2:30 p.m.
  • Murder Mystery Lock-In — Tuesday, June 9, from 5:30–8 p.m.
  • Beading with Sue Hood — Monday, July 13, at 4 p.m.

Summer Programs for Grades K–5

(All programs begin at 2 p.m.)

  • Tuesday, June 16 — Tim Lowry Colonial Fair
  • Tuesday, June 23 — Professor Whizzpop
  • Tuesday, July 7 — Carolina Wildlife Center
  • Tuesday, July 14 — Lexington County Museum: Revolutionary War’s 250th
  • Tuesday, July 21 — Pork Chop Productions
  • Tuesday, July 28 — Storytelling with Lexington County Public Library

Library officials say many more programs for all ages are planned throughout the summer.
