Residents in and around Chapin have several opportunities in the coming days to support the community, learn new skills, and get involved with local organizations.

Self-Defense Classes for Women
Looking ahead to the new year, SASS Go is offering women’s self-defense classes on February 21, 2026, from 2–4 p.m. at Flex Squad in Chapin. The classes focus on practical skills designed to help women protect themselves in real-life situations. Registration is available at sassgo.org.

We Care Needs Donations
We Care continues to seek donations to support local families. Items currently needed include oatmeal, jelly, pancake mix, Jiffy mix, grits, canned goods, paper products, dish and laundry detergents, cleaning supplies, and shaving cream. Donations may be dropped off at 1800 Chapin Road, or donors may call 803-345-3244 for more information.

Support Local Wildlife Rescue
As development continues in rural areas, local wildlife often needs assistance. Snug Harbor Wildlife Rescue and Sanctuary, a nonprofit organization serving the Chapin area, provides care for injured and orphaned wildlife ranging from small mammals to deer. The organization also offers volunteer training and hands-on experience for those interested in veterinary or animal-care fields. Those wishing to volunteer or donate can learn more at snugharborwildlifesc.com or on the group’s Facebook page.
