IRMO – Chapin High School varsity cheerleader Macie Cox has been named the South Carolina High School League (SCHSL) Class 5A Division II Cheerleader of the Year.
Cox who is a senior has been a cheerleader since she was 8 years old and has been cheering for Chapin Varsity Cheer since her freshman year.
“I am honored to receive this award because it reflects the hard work and sacrifices of every athlete on Chapin Varsity over the years,” Cox said. “As co-captain, this recognition represents far more than an individual achievement. I would not be where I am without the support and efforts of my coaches and teammates. After four years on Chapin Varsity, I have had the privilege of cheering alongside some of the best athletes and being coached by the best in the state. I am truly grateful to be named 5A Division II Cheerleader of the Year among such an outstanding group of competitors.”
After graduation Cox plans to attend a 4 year college and major in nursing with the potential of furthering her cheerleading career. Chapin High School Varsity Cheer won the SCHSL Class 5A Division II state championship on November 22, 2025 at the Colonial Life Arena. The win was the 19th state title for Chapin Cheerleading.
“Macie is a wonderful young lady whose leadership and character represent a true athlete,” Chapin Varsity Cheer Coach Vicki Williams said. “Her positive attitude and strong expectations led the team to another state title continuing to protect the legacy of Chapin Varsity Cheer.”
