Lexington County investigators seek tips on man’s 2025 disappearance

LEXINGTON — Lexington County investigators are asking for the public’s help in a missing person case that began more than a year ago.

Drayton Lucas, 25, was last seen the morning of Feb. 8, 2025, according to his family.

“Family members tell us they believe Drayton walked away from their home on Whetstone Road in Swansea,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said. “It’s possible he was headed toward Orangeburg County.”

Lucas is described as 5 feet 10 inches tall and about 150 pounds with brown eyes and brown hair, according to Koon.

“We searched for Drayton by land and air on multiple occasions in the days right after his disappearance,” Koon said. “Detectives have continued working to find him over the past year.”

“This case hasn’t gone cold; however, we’re hoping a renewed effort to get Drayton’s face and name out there again will prompt someone to come forward,” Koon said. “We don’t need theories or guesses; we need actionable tips and verifiable information.”

Koon said anonymous tips can be submitted through the Midlands Crimestoppers app. People who provide information leading to a resolution in the case may be eligible for a cash reward.
