Sandy Ellisor, Career Specialist at Lexington-Richland School District Five, has been honored as the Midlands Career Specialist of the Year for the 2023-2024 school year by the Midlands Education and Business Alliance (MEBA).
This prestigious award acknowledges educators who excel in preparing students for the workforce by providing rigorous academics, real-world experiences, and high-demand skills. Ellisor’s dedication to her students’ success has earned her recognition, and she will now advance to compete for the South Carolina Career Specialist of the Year award, representing the Midlands region.
With 15 years of experience as a Career Specialist, including nine years at the Center for Advanced Technical Studies, Ellisor embodies commitment and passion for guiding students towards fulfilling career pathways.
Expressing gratitude for the award, Ellisor emphasized the importance of collaboration among Career Specialists and the support from her team at the Center for Advanced Technical Studies. She highlighted the collective effort involved in nurturing students to become college and career-ready, emphasizing the joy she finds in witnessing their growth and success.
MEBA’s impact extends across Fairfield, Lexington, and Richland Counties, serving numerous colleges, universities, school districts, and students. Through collaboration with over 250 business partners, MEBA facilitates the alignment of curriculum with workforce skills, ensuring that students are equipped for the demands of today and tomorrow’s job market.
Founded in 1990 as part of the statewide Tech Prep initiative, MEBA continues to play a vital role in shaping the Midlands workforce by fostering meaningful connections between educators and businesses to create innovative programs that prepare students for career success.
