IRMO – The Chapin Middle School Symphonic Band has been invited to perform as a featured ensemble at the South Carolina Music Educators Association’s (SCMEA) Professional Development Conference in Columbia on February 8, 2025.
“It is a great honor for our Chapin Middle School Symphonic Band to be selected to perform at the South Carolina Music Educators Conference this year,” Chapin Middle School Band Director Maria Manaeva said. “I am incredibly proud of the hard work and dedication the Chapin Middle School band students have demonstrated over the past couple of years. Their passion for learning is inspiring and I am very grateful to be their band director. I am also very grateful for the parents of our band program and the staff and administration of Chapin Middle School. We are very excited for this opportunity!”
Chapin Middle School was one of many schools who submitted performance recordings to be considered as a featured ensemble at the Professional Development Conference. A committee of music educators evaluates the performance recordings and selects the top groups. The Symphonic Band at Chapin Middle School was one of only two middle school bands who were invited to perform at the conference.
“I am so proud of the hard work our students have invested to receive the honor of performing at the 2025 SCMEA Conference,” Chapin Middle School Principal Dr. Stephanie Huckabee said. “Guided by the tremendous leadership of Ms. Manaeva, they truly demonstrate both excellence and passion for their craft.”
