The Chapin boys basketball team opened the season with a strong showing at the Tipoff at the Dam.
The Eagles finished runner-up to Lexington/Richland District Five rival Dutch Fork at the 3-day tournament. They opened play Nov. 24 with a 65-55 win over Wando.
Carter Coggins had 20 points and Alex Rose and Adam Vandergrift each had nine points for the Eagles. On Day Two, Coggins had another 20 points, Brayden Francis added 16 and Vandergrift finished with 10 in a 72-58 victory over Spring Valley.

Chapin was defeated by Dutch Fork 81-52 in the tournament final played at River Bluff High School. It then was outscored 25-17 in the fourth quarter of Monday’s 70-67 loss to Camden in the home opener.
The Chapin girls began the Terrance Jones era in the She Got Next tournament. They opened play with a 51-42 win over A.C. Flora.
Reagan Hubbard had 11 points and 10 rebounds. Sami Stephenson also scored 11 points and Atyria Douglas added 10 points.
The Lady Eagles fell short to Goose Creek 54-39 in the Diamond Bracket final Saturday at Lexington High School. They also dropped their home opener to Camden Monday and play host to Dreher Friday.
