“Video Games In Concert” set for Aug. 22 at Koger Center for the Arts
COLUMBIA, S.C. — The South Carolina Philharmonic will take audiences on a musical journey through some of gaming’s most beloved adventures during Video Games In Concert at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, at the Koger Center for the Arts.
The one-night-only performance will feature music from such popular titles as The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, Halo, Final Fantasy VII, Kingdom Hearts, World of Warcraft, Tomb Raider and more.
The South Carolina Philharmonic will be joined by the Columbia Choral Society, bringing powerful live vocals to select works throughout the performance.
The gaming experience begins before the concert, with a free, hands-on gaming event in the Koger Center lobby presented in partnership with the Midlands Gaming Coalition. Opening approximately 90 minutes before the performance and continuing during intermission, the interactive experience will feature both retro classics and modern favorites, including many of the games represented in the evening’s program.
Concertgoers will also have the opportunity to meet game developer and creative director Christopher Barrett. During his 25-year career at acclaimed game studio Bungie, Barrett helped shape globally successful franchises, including Halo, where he served as Art Lead and Art Director, and Destiny, where he was Art Director.
Whether a lifelong gamer or simply a fan of epic orchestral music, audiences will have the opportunity to experience beloved video game soundtracks brought to life on stage.
