Chapin Boys Stay Unbeaten in Region Play; Girls Split Early Matches

CHAPIN, S.C. — The Chapin High School boys soccer team is off to an undefeated start in Region 4-5A play.

The Eagles (6-2, 2-0) opened their region schedule March 17 with a 4-0 shutout of Dutch Fork High School. Goals were scored by Heath Wenger, Josh Tucker, Lucas Rogers, and Gabe Sansbury.

Chapin followed with a key 3-1 victory over Lexington High School on March 20 in a matchup of two top-three ranked teams, according to Scorbord. The Eagles then faced River Bluff High School on Tuesday in an early showdown for first place in the region standings.

Meanwhile, the second-ranked Chapin girls soccer team split its first two region contests.

The Lady Eagles opened with a dominant 6-0 win over Dutch Fork, as Elizabeth Koon recorded two assists and was one of six players to score.

Three nights later, Chapin battled Lexington to a scoreless draw before falling 4-3 in a penalty shootout.
