Eagles host U.S. Military Duals

Chapin High School was the site for the U.S. Military Duals this past weekend.

A total of 15 teams from South Carolina and Tennessee participated in the four pool, two division tournament. Pool play saw the host school win its C league by defeating Wando (51-19), Spring Valley (59-0) and Camden (69-15).

Ranked sixth in the latest SCMAT.com Class 5A Division II rankings, the Eagles advance to the Gold Division where they defeated Gibbs (Tenn.) 48-31 and lost to Lugoff-Elgin 49-15 in the semifinals. The Eagles then lost 45-35 to T.L. Hanna to finish fourth in the Gold Division.

Dutch Fork placed third in Pool B, while Irmo was fourth in Pool D. After a first-round bye in the Silver Division, the Silver Foxes advanced to the final after defeating Camden 35-24.

The Silver Foxes ended up losing to South Aiken 58-21 to place second. Irmo finished sixth in the Silver Division after losing 36-24 to Camden in the Silver Division quarterfinal and to Spring Vallely by the same score in the consolation match.

Chapin resumes Region 4-5A wrestling Wednesday at Irmo.
