School District Five Hosts Community Awards Breakfast

On Wednesday, April 2, Lexington-Richland School District Five held its annual Community Awards Breakfast to honor those who make a difference in the district’s schools and students. The event, titled “Coming Together,” took place at the Seven Oaks Recreation Center gymnasium and welcomed hundreds of attendees, including volunteers, business partners, mentors, and parent-teacher organizations.

The Irmo Middle School Honors Orchestra, under the direction of Savannah Mellichamp, provided musical entertainment for the morning.

Amanda Taylor, Director of the Office of Communications, served as MC, announcing award winners in various categories. Superintendent Dr. Akill E. Ross, Sr. also addressed the crowd, commending the nominees for their dedication and impact on the district.

Among the honorees, Midlands Family Chiropractic was recognized as the Outstanding Elementary School Business Partner for the second consecutive year.
