SC Philharmonic Celebrates 60th Season with Growth and Community Impact

As the South Carolina Philharmonic (SC Phil) marks its 60th season, it’s more than just a milestone—it’s a moment of reflection on an era of unprecedented growth, impact, and outreach.

In just four years, the SC Phil has doubled its budget, expanded its educational and community programs, and reached more people than ever before across the Midlands and beyond. And as the orchestra continues to evolve, it’s not just about performances on the Koger Center stage—it’s about meeting people where they are, through powerful community-centered programs.

Your Donation Doubles This Spring

In celebration of the SC Phil’s legacy and future, a generous donor has stepped forward to match all tax-deductible contributions dollar-for-dollar up to $20,000. This is a unique opportunity for patrons and supporters to double their impact and support the transformational work the orchestra is doing offstage.

A Symphony Beyond the Stage

Arts Capacity
Through a groundbreaking partnership with the Camille Griffin Graham Women’s Prison, SC Phil musicians are trained to engage incarcerated individuals through music, fostering healing, dialogue, and creative expression. More than 100 participants are already involved, showing how music can offer second chances and restore dignity.

Healing Harmonies
Working with a network of hospitals and community care centers—including Dorn VA Medical Center, Prisma Children’s Hospital, Transitions Homeless Center, and more—this program delivers therapeutic performances that help regulate the nervous system and promote well-being for patients and residents alike. A new bedside initiative is now active in Prisma’s Psychiatric Unit.

Music for All
With over 1.3 million adults in South Carolina living with a disability, the SC Phil’s Sensory Friendly Concert opens the door for more inclusive musical experiences. Audiences can move, vocalize, or dance—free from judgment or restriction. This initiative is expanding into special education classrooms and adult daycares, reaching more South Carolinians with diverse needs.

Youth Orchestras & Summer Camp
Each year, over 200 young musicians are inspired and trained through the SC Phil’s Youth Orchestra program. The Summer Camp, in collaboration with USC, removes financial barriers for students who want year-round elite training, ensuring that talent—not income—determines opportunity.

Whether you’re a concert-goer, a community advocate, or a parent watching your child grow through music, your support of the SC Philharmonic helps shape a more vibrant, inclusive, and connected South Carolina.
