Three students from School District Five recently graduated from the Building Occupational Opportunities in the Midlands (BOOM) program at Midlands Technical College. They were honored in a graduation ceremony on May 23.
The graduates from School District Five are:
- Elliott Chappelle (Irmo High)
- Austin Covey (Chapin High)
- Hunter Hess (Chapin High)
BOOM is a collaborative job-training program featuring high school students with disabilities from School District Five, Lexington One, Richland One, and Richland Two. The program spans a semester and takes place at the Midlands Technical College airport campus, where students learn valuable skills in construction and special events planning.
This program aims to equip students with practical skills and work experience, helping them prepare for future employment opportunities. The recent graduates have demonstrated dedication and hard work, making their schools and community proud.
