Lexington Teen Charged in Highway 378 Shooting Incident

Lexington – An 18-year-old from Lexington, Logan Nathanial Cason, faces serious charges after allegedly shooting at a vehicle while driving his SUV on Highway 378 near Lake Murray on Tuesday night.

Cason has been charged with three counts of first-degree assault and battery and one count of pointing a firearm at a person, according to arrest warrants. The incident reportedly began as a road rage altercation.

“Deputies interviewed a group of witnesses right after this happened, which we believe started as a road rage incident,” said Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon. “The witnesses all told deputies Cason fired a handgun into the air as he drove, then pointed it toward the car beside him and fired more shots.”

Sheriff Koon also mentioned that beer bottles and cans were thrown from Cason’s car towards the other vehicle before the shots were fired. Deputies collected evidence from the scene, including multiple shell casings, which matched the accounts provided by witnesses.

During their investigation, deputies identified Cason as the alleged shooter. They located him at a home near Lake Murray, where he was arrested and subsequently transported to the Lexington County Detention Center.
