The Lake Murray-Irmo Rotary Club has named Seven Oaks Elementary Global Magnet fifth grader Allison Reyes Andres as its February Student of the Month.
Seven Oaks Principal Dr. Angie Slatton presented the honor, sharing numerous testimonials from teachers highlighting Allison’s character, leadership and commitment to her school community.
“From being the ideal student in the classroom to helping out with our morning news show, Allison is the epitome of a model student,” Slatton said.
Faculty members praised Allison not only for her academic performance, but also for her servant leadership. During a recent snowstorm that forced school closures, Allison helped lead a team alongside cafeteria staff to ensure students went home with enough food to support their families during the unexpected break.
“To really sum up her heart for her SOES peers, during the snowstorm, Allison helped lead a team along with our cafeteria staff to ensure every student went home with enough food during the closure,” Slatton said. “This is just one of countless examples of why Allison was chosen as Student of the Month.”
The Rotary Club’s Student of the Month program recognizes local students who demonstrate strong character, leadership and a commitment to serving others both inside and outside the classroom.
