Lady Eagles Remain No. 1 in Latest Poll

The Chapin boys’ soccer team is off to a 3-0 start in Region 4-5A.

On Friday, the Eagles defeated River Bluff in The Swamp.

Junior Eli Vance scored in the first three minutes for Chapin. The Eagles added to their lead at the 30-minute mark. Jalen Tucker cut across the field and placed a left-footed shot past the keeper.

River Bluff had two opportunities after Chapin received two yellow cards. A Max Hegler free kick was deflected by Chapin goalkeeper Cooper Hughes and a corner shot struck off the far post.

The Eagles had consecutive non-region games Tuesday against Irmo and Wednesday versus Oceanside Collegiate Academy before facing White Knoll Friday at Cecil Woolbright Field.

In girls soccer, the top-ranked Lady Eagles fell 1-0 at home to River Bluff last Friday. Anna Allen scored the lone goal for the Lady Gators, who moved into first place in the region at 3-0.

Softball

The Lady Eagles fell 13-0 to first-place Lexington in five innings last Friday.

Payton Gonce had three hits and four RBI for the Lady Wildcats. This helped Lexington take a 9-0 lead into the fifth inning where Livi Warren belted a grand slam over the centerfield wall.

Chapin began a 3-game, 4-night stretch Tuesday with a home matchup with River Bluff. The Eagles then traveled to Brookland-Cayce Wednesday and Irmo Friday.

Baseball

The Eagles dropped a 3-2 region matchup at Dutch Fork last Thursday.

Chapin took a 2-0 lead in the Top 2nd on an RBI fielder’s choice by Felix Flecha-ruiz and Kaden Harris scoring on an error.

Lacrosse

The defending Class 5A girls’ lacrosse champion Lady Eagles edged Lakeside (Ga.) 13-12 on the road Monday for their fifth straight victory.

Chapin opened a 3-game homestand Thursday to Lexington. It then faces J.L. Mann Saturday and Irmo Monday.

Despite a 13-12 loss to A.C. Flora on March 22, the boys’ lacrosse team are 3-0 in District 4 Class 5A.
