CHAPIN – The Friends of the Chapin Branch Library have awarded the 2025 Judy Carter Scholarship to Avery Smith, a graduating senior from Spring Hill High School.
The Scholarship Committee—comprising Allison Bennett, Vicky Phillips, and Judy Rich—selected Smith from a talented pool of applicants. Friends President Susan Shealy, scholarship namesake Judy Carter, instructor Joseph Chapman, members of The Friends, and Smith’s family attended the April meeting of the Friends of the Chapin Branch Library to celebrate the award presentation.
This fall, Smith will attend Western Carolina University, where she plans to double major in psychology and forensic science.
The Judy Carter Scholarship supports graduating seniors in their academic pursuits, honoring Judy Carter’s legacy of dedication to youth and lifelong learning through libraries. The Friends of the Chapin Branch Library extend their special congratulations to Avery Smith and best wishes to all scholarship applicants as they embark on their future journeys.
