Former Lexington County detention deputy faces two criminal charges

LEXINGTON, S.C. – A former Lexington County detention deputy has been charged with providing contraband to an inmate and misconduct in office, according to the State Law Enforcement Division (SLED).

Yvette Constantino Wiggins, 57, was arrested by SLED agents after turning herself in Thursday morning at the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department headquarters.

“When I became aware of Ms. Wiggins’ alleged conduct, I referred the matter to SLED for an independent criminal investigation,” said Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon. “Law enforcement officers are held to a higher standard because of their duty to protect and engage with the community. We hold them accountable when they fall short.”

Wiggins, who was hired by the department in October 2021, was terminated on August 13, according to Sheriff Koon.

She was booked into the Lexington County Detention Center on Thursday morning.
