District Five will operate on an eLearning schedule on Wednesday

The National Weather Service has forecasted potential winter weather, including snow and extremely low temperatures, for the Midlands area beginning Tuesday afternoon, January 21, 2025, and continuing into the night. With sub-freezing temperatures expected to create black ice on roadways Wednesday morning, School District Five of Lexington & Richland Counties will transition to an eLearning schedule on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, for the safety of students and staff.

eLearning Details:

  • Assignments: Teachers will post assignments to Google Classroom by 10:00 a.m. If Google Classroom is not used, teachers will communicate alternative methods directly to parents and students.
  • Learning Format: Students will engage in asynchronous learning, allowing them to complete assignments independently at their own pace. Teachers will provide support through feedback and respond to questions.
  • Deadline: Students will have up to five school days to complete assignments.

Additional Information:

  • Chromebooks: Students will bring home their Chromebook devices after school on Tuesday.
  • Meals: Packaged breakfasts and lunches for Wednesday will be available for students to take home on Tuesday, courtesy of the district’s Office of Student Nutrition.
  • Activities Canceled: All after-school childcare programs and extracurricular activities are canceled for Wednesday. Coaches and sponsors will reach out with rescheduling details.

Families and staff will receive updates regarding any further schedule changes through the district’s automated communication system, website, and social media platforms. Stay safe and warm!
