District Five coordinator earns statewide recognition

Davida Price, School District Five’s Coordinator of Youth and Family Services (4K), has been awarded the 2025 State Service Award by the South Carolina Early Childhood Association (SCECA).

The SCECA State Service Award is given to an individual who has gone above and beyond to aid the South Carolina Early Childhood Association for an extended period of time. This person has dedicated countless hours of time and talents to guide, direct, and mentor others. This person is a huge advocate for not only children but also the people who work for and with them.

“It is truly a blessing to be recognized by the SC Early Childhood Association as the recipient of the 2025 Service Award for the entire state of South Carolina,” Price said. “Each day that I get an opportunity to support our youngest learners is a privilege. It is a calling and I’ve been blessed to be a part of it. Early childhood professionals are able to help lay the foundation for a child’s future. They impact a child’s cognitive, emotional, physical and social development. Therefore, it is extremely important to help make sure we ensure that these teachers are supported in order to support these children and their families. So, I am beyond honored that the work I do every day is noticed and appreciated. It allows me an opportunity to continue to advocate for our children and to share the importance of early childhood.”

School District Five’s Chief of Student Services and Planning Dr. Michael Harris said, “Mrs. Davida Price is an exemplar in the field of Early Childhood Education. This award is appropriately described with Mrs. Price in mind- she dedicates herself above and beyond the call of duty and in the service of our younger learners and their families. I cannot think of a more deserving person to be recognized for their tireless and tenacious efforts in early childhood.”
