District Five coach named 2025 Wrestling Coach of the Year

Chapin High School wrestling coach Mason Marshall has been named the 2025 Region 4 5A Wrestling Coach of the Year.

“I am very proud of our team and how we performed as a unit this season,” Marshall said. “This is not an individual award, this is the result of months of hard work and dedication by very talented student athletes. My assistant coaches, Ken Wilson, Jim Brophy, Shawn Haile, Cole Haile and James Hollingsworth have done fantastic work building this team and putting in the long hours to make our team successful. I am very thankful for the situation I have been placed in to achieve this reward.”

This is Marshall’s first season coaching wrestling at Chapin High School but his seventh season overall coaching wrestling. I spent the last 6 seasons as a varsity assistant at Blythewood High School. Marshall is also in his first year teaching business education at Chapin Middle.

“I am so proud of Coach Marshall,” Chapin High Athletic Director Ronnie Wessinger said. “He has done a fantastic job in his first year as Chapin High School’s wrestling coach. I look forward to seeing how the program grows in the future under his leadership.”
