Chapin/Newberry Post 193/24 to honor 2015 World Series Champion

By Thomas Grant Jr.

This year marks an anniversary season for Chapin/Newberry Post 193/24.

It was in 2015 when it completed a historic campaign in South Carolina American Legion baseball history. Chapin/Newberry posted a 32-1 record enroute to winning the American Legion World Series.

Post 193/24 was the first South Carolina team to win the title since Spartanburg in 1936.

On June 27, Chapin-Newberry will honor the players and coaches from that team during a matchup with the Joanna Hornets.

Post 193/24 is 1-1 on the season. It opened with a 13-1 victory in five innings over Greenwood on June 3. Luke Cromer had three RBI, Bryce Satterwhite drove in two runs and Raleigh Salters and Jayden Glenn both had two hits.

Last Saturday, Chapin/Newberry lost 4-1 to Camden Post 17. Colby Livingston went 2-4 for Post 193/24.

Monday’s home opener at Newberry College against Richland Post 215 was rained out and moved up to Tuesday.
