The Irmo Police Department has arrested Maurice T. McQuire, 20, of Chapin, SC, on charges of Attempted Murder and Possession of a weapon during a violent crime following a shooting incident earlier this month.
On August 3, 2024, Irmo officers responded to a shooting at a residence in the New Friarsgate Subdivision. Although two houses and one car were struck by gunfire, no injuries were reported. The Criminal Investigations Division processed the evidence, conducted multiple interviews, and subsequently issued warrants for McQuire’s arrest.
McQuire was taken into custody without incident on Friday, August 16, 2024. He has been charged with four counts of Attempted Murder and Possession of a weapon during a violent crime. He was transported to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center, where he was denied bond.
“We are very fortunate that nobody was hit during this incident,” said Chief Bobby Dale. “To commit this act in broad daylight in a neighborhood shows just how reckless and dangerous McQuire is. I am proud of the work our investigators put in to have McQuire jailed and thankful that his bond was denied.”
