The Capital City/Lake Murray Country Regional Tourism Board (CCLMC) has announced that the headline act for the first Southeastern BBQ Showdown, scheduled for June 14-15 at Segra Park, will be the Grammy Award-winning country music band Alabama. With an impressive track record of 43 #1 singles and over 178 awards, including a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Alabama is set to entertain attendees during the finale concert on June 15.
The two-day food sport competition aims to provide visitors and BBQ enthusiasts with opportunities to learn from professionals and savor delicious BBQ offerings. The Southeastern BBQ Showdown kicks off on June 14 with South Carolina Night, featuring the South Carolina BBQ Association chicken wing competition, interactive exhibits, home plate prizes, and music by the Band of OZ, known as the #1 Shag band in the Southeast. On June 15, 25 BBQ teams from around the competition BBQ world will showcase their skills, offering attendees the chance to sample delectable BBQ.
The event encourages attendees to witness celebrity chefs in action as they prepare for the final stage presentation. Celebrity judges, along with Emcee Mark Conway of Mark Conway Media, will be present for the grand finale and awards presentation. Following the BBQ festivities, Alabama will conclude the two-day event with a concert, followed by a spectacular fireworks display.
