IRMO, S.C. — The District Five Foundation for Educational Excellence will host its annual fall fundraiser, “An Evening for Education — Groovin’ for Good,” Saturday, Oct. 17, beginning at 7 p.m. at The River Center at Saluda Shoals Park.
The evening will feature 1970s and 1980s music, food, drinks and a silent auction, with proceeds supporting educational initiatives throughout Lexington-Richland School District Five.
Over the past 16 years, the District Five Foundation has provided more than $1.048 million to educational initiatives across the district. The funding supports projects and ideas developed by teachers and helps students pursue educational opportunities that may otherwise be difficult to fund.
During the current school year, 73 students have received grant support for research projects. According to the foundation, some of those projects have resulted in patents, state competition wins and national recognition.
The foundation also partners with local churches and community organizations to provide weekend meals to approximately 700 students each month. The program provided more than $26,000 in Snack Packs during the 2025-26 school year.
Tickets must be purchased in advance and are $40 per person, $75 for two or $210 for a six-person package. Tickets are available online at district5foundation.org.
Sponsorship opportunities remain available, and the foundation is accepting silent auction donations. Those unable to attend in person can participate in the virtual silent auction beginning Oct. 12.
