Under first-year head coach Terrence Jones, the Chapin girls’ basketball team is enjoying its best season in 12 years.
Last Friday, the Lady Eagles rallied in the fourth quarter to defeat River Bluff 43–39. Alaya Douglas led Chapin with 12 points, while Sami Stephenson added 11 points and 14 rebounds.
With the win, Chapin matched last season’s 13-win total and evened its Region 4-5A record, remaining tied with Irmo for third place. The two teams met Tuesday in Irmo, with a Lady Eagles victory clinching third place with one game remaining — a home matchup Thursday against White Knoll.
In boys’ action, Chapin defeated River Bluff 78–71. The Eagles trail White Knoll by one game for fourth place in the region, with the teams set to close out the regular season against each other Thursday.
Wrestling
Chapin’s 2026 wrestling season came to an end in the Class 5A Division II playoffs. After defeating Socastee in the second round of the Lower State bracket, the Eagles fell to St. James 50–24 on Saturday.
