Chapin Community to Honor Veterans on National Wreaths Across America Day

Chapin Christian Community Church will host a wreath-laying ceremony on Saturday, December 14, 2024, as part of National Wreaths Across America Day. The event, coordinated by Chapin American Legion Post 193, will honor fallen service members by placing 52 veterans’ wreaths on their headstones at the church cemetery and the adjacent cemetery at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church.

The ceremony begins at 12:00 p.m. in the parking lot behind Chapin Christian Community Church, located at 415 Lexington Ave., Chapin, SC. Chapin Mayor Al Koon will attend, and Major General Jeffrey Jones, Deputy Adjutant General for South Carolina, will be the guest speaker.

Veterans, active service members, families, and community members are invited to participate in this solemn event, dedicated to remembering, honoring, and teaching future generations about the sacrifices of U.S. military veterans.

Post 193 will also coordinate wreath-laying ceremonies at eight additional cemeteries throughout the Chapin community. Altogether, 479 veterans’ graves will be honored during the event.
