Chapin opens Region play versus Dutch Fork

By Thomas Grant Jr.

Having a ‘bye’ week has left Chapin football among the schools unaffected by Hurricane Helene from a scheduling standpoint.

The Eagles (4-1) still scheduled to play host to top-ranked and defending Class 5A champion Dutch Fork (5-0) Friday at Cecil Woolbright Stadium.

It’s the Region 4-5A opener for both teams. The Eagles are seeking their first win over the Silver Foxes.

“We have to be better tacklers on the defensive side of the ball,” Cole said. “We also need to

make sure we are doing our assignments when we are supposed to. We have to get better in all

phases of the game so we can compete in the region.

“We always focus on what we can do as a team instead of looking at other teams strengths or

weaknesses. They are a good football team. We are looking forward to the challenge ahead.”

Chapin quarterback Brady Albro currently leads the Palmetto State in passing yards (1,515) and total touchdowns (18). He has completed 61.6 percent of his passes, has thrown 17 touchdowns and just one interception.

Wide receiver Khalen Bostick has been a beneficiary of Albro’s success. He’s fourth in the state in receiving yards (570 yards) with 29 receptions and nine touchdowns.
