Team Fish Whistle wins August MSC Tournament

On Aug. 17, the Midlands Striper Club held their montlhly tournament on Clark’s Hill / Thurmond Lake with 14 participating teams.

A total of 17 striped bass were brought to the scales weighing a total of 157.54 lbs. with a 9.27-pound average. At least eight teams were able to bring a full two-fish creel to the scales.

Finishing first with a total weight of 36.67 lbs. was Team Fish Whistle captained by Mitch Craps, along with Tim Schumpert. They also won the Team Wildman Big Fish Award sponsored by The Nichols Store with a 19.75-pound striper and the TWT Award.

Finishing second with a total weight of 32.44 lbs. was Team Knot Right captained by Allen Rodgers along with Amelia Keller.

Finishing third with a total weight of 19.81 lbs. was Team Main Street Mafia captained by Aaron Hatfield along with Brent Rikard.

Lady Angler Award went to Amelia Keller from Team Knot Right.

Youth Angler Award went to Sligh McDowell from Team Well Hung.

Middle of the Road went to team Reel Guys with a total weight of 13.78.

Smallest creel went to Team Chum Crazy with a total weight of 2.79 pounds.

Midlands Striper Club is a family-oriented fishing organization dedicated to fun, fellowship, education and preserving our fisheries for generations to come. MSC’s next monthly meeting is Sept. 10 at the FlightDeck in Lexington starting at 7 p.m.
