Still Standing Women’s Health Luncheon to Address Domestic Violence

The Still Standing Women’s Health Empowerment Luncheon will be held on Thursday, October 12, from 1 – 3 p.m. at the Lexington Municipal Conference Center, 111 Maiden Lane, Lexington. This year’s event will feature Richland County Coroner Naida Rutherford as the keynote speaker, focusing on the critical issue of domestic violence.

Themed “Face the Facts: Domestic Violence Is Beyond Skin Deep,” the luncheon will include a panel discussion featuring Dr. Delores Dacosta, Executive Director of the SC Commission for Minority Affairs; Ashley Olayinka, CEO of The Hive Community Circle; and Stephanie Jacobs, Victim Advocate. Together, they will highlight the importance of confronting domestic violence and its deeper effects on the community.

In addition to addressing domestic violence, the event aims to empower women by raising awareness of key health challenges such as Breast Cancer, HIV/AIDS, and Mental Health. Attendees will also enjoy the popular “Shoe Strut” competition, which encourages women to “stand taller, feel stronger, and walk longer.”

Proceeds from the luncheon will benefit Coroners Campus, a program promoting awareness of forensic science. The event is hosted by the Ivy Heritage Foundation of Irmo, Inc. For more information, email publicrelations@ivyheritageofirmo.org.
