Step Jam South Coming to Columbia: Public Invited to High-Energy Walk/Run Event

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Local residents are invited to lace up their sneakers and join in on the fun at Step Jam South, a high-energy walk/run event open to the public on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Charlie W. Johnson Stadium (1920 Two Notch Road).

Hosted by Eager 2 Motivate (E2M) Fitness, the event promises a full morning of fitness, fun, and community. The one-hour walk/run challenge is designed for all ages and fitness levels, making it the perfect outing for families and individuals alike.

The event is already drawing national attention, with more than 500 participants from 20 different states signed up. E2M Fitness was founded by Jeff Witherspoon, a retired U.S. Army combat veteran from Sumter, SC. Since launching in 2016, E2M has built a strong online fitness community with over 220,000 members, including many here in the Midlands.

Participants can expect a lively atmosphere featuring music, local vendors, and a post-race celebration led by E2M’s certified instructors. Registration includes a race medal, race bib, refreshments, and access to the exclusive “after-jam” celebration.

Step Jam South is also a charity event, with donations being made to Soles4Souls, which provides shoes and clothing to underserved communities, and The Women’s Shelter of Columbia, which supports women facing homelessness.

Event Schedule:

  • Check-in: 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 a.m.

  • Race begins: 9:00 a.m.

  • Post-race celebration: 10:00 a.m.
