The Home Run Derby is not the only event drawing athletes to Seattle, Washington during Major League Baseball All-Star Week.
A softball tournament involving the top national talent in the Class of 2024 will include All-State senior shortstop Precious Bross of Irmo High School.
The University of Georgia commit was selected to play in the Jenna Finch Classic. The 4-day tournament, sponsored by Minority Softball Prospects, will take place July 7-10, and conclude at the University of Washington.
“I am the only player selected from South Carolina and I am truly honored to have the opportunity to represent the talent in our state,” Bross said. “I feel extremely blessed that I was chosen be a part of this inaugural team and help promote not only female but also minority talent.”
Minority Softball Prospects’ mission is to promote the game of softball worldwide by hosting the highest quality events for minority softball prospects while providing meaningful opportunities and information to minority players, families, Softball pro-organizations, college coaches, and fans.
According to Bross, Minority Softball Prospects followed Bross’ progress on social media and reached out to her. Bross was the Region 5-4A Player of the Year after batting .522 with five home runs and 28 RBI.
Upon agreeing to participate, Bross was presented travel gear from The Players’ Alliance. She’s scheduled to leave for Seattle July 6 and is excited about the opportunity to experience the All-Star activities at T-Mobile Park in Seattle.
“I look forward most to creating relationships with all of the other talented girls on the team, as well as the chance to network with many professional and influential players of the game.”
