COLUMBIA, SC – The Columbia-Richland Fire Department (CRFD) recently hosted an open house at Fire Station 1, aimed at benefiting local teens living with sickle cell anemia. This free summertime gathering provided a wonderful opportunity for visitors to engage with local firefighters, explore artifacts at the station’s fire museum, and participate in a variety of activities including games and enjoying food from local food trucks.
The event was graced by the presence of several County Council members, including Vice Chair Derrek Pugh from District 2, Jason Branham from District 1, and Gretchen D. Barron from District 7, who all enjoyed the festivities and showed their support for the cause.
Attendees were encouraged to bring gifts for teenagers living with sickle cell anemia. These generous donations will be directed to the James R. Clark Sickle Cell Foundation, an organization dedicated to supporting individuals affected by this condition.
The open house not only provided a fun and educational experience for attendees but also highlighted the community’s commitment to supporting those with sickle cell anemia.
