New sewer and water usage rates in Richland County

The Richland County Utilities Department has announced new sewer and water usage service rates, which include an increase for residential services. The updated rates are set to help fund essential operational and maintenance costs, as well as capital improvements to the Wastewater Treatment System.

The new rate for residential service will be $74.91 per Residential Equivalent Unit. The water volumetric rates are as follows:

  • Hydrant Fee: $8.00
  • First 1,000 gallons minimum base charge (standard meter): $23.00
  • Next 8,000 gallons: $5.14 per 1,000 gallons
  • Next 11,000 gallons: $4.81 per 1,000 gallons
  • Next 10,000 gallons: $4.52 per 1,000 gallons
  • Next 30,000 gallons: $4.26 per 1,000 gallons
  • Next 60,000 gallons: $4.26 per 1,000 gallons

These rate adjustments are intended to support ongoing operational and maintenance needs, as well as capital improvements that will enhance the capacity and efficiency of the Wastewater Treatment System. The planned facility upgrades aim to ensure that basic sewer services remain reliable and affordable for all residents, while also providing long-term cost savings.
