After winning the program’s first playoff game in 12 years, the Chapin girls looked to continue its success at North Myrtle Beach.
The Lady Eagles trailed 20-18 at halftime only to take a five-point lead in the third quarter. The Lady Chiefs responded with 14-5 run to take a 36-31 lead into the fourth quarter.
They outscored Chapin 13-4 in the final stanza to take the 49-35 win in the Class 5A Division I playoffs. The Lady Eagles ended the season with a 13-15 record, their most wins since the 2013-14 season.
Mid-Carolina, Newberry reach the third round
Both the Lady Rebels and Lady Bulldogs won their second-round matchups this past Thursday.
Mid-Carolina defeated Chesterfield 56-48 in the Class 2A playoffs. It was the Lady Rebels’ second straight road playoff win, led by Brea Boyd with 14 points, Katie Gallman with 12 points and Brayden Brooks with 11 points.
They traveled Tuesday to Columbia to face Eau Claire.
In Class 3A, Newberry defeated Marlboro County 51-45 behind 19 points from Jasmin Robinson. The Lady Bulldogs looked to reach the Lower State final Saturday, but fell 65-26 to top seed Dillon.
