The Town of Irmo is launching a community-wide fundraising campaign to support the development of Crossbuck Play Space at Rawls Creek Park—an all-inclusive play space designed to ensure children of all abilities have a safe, welcoming and engaging place to play together.
The new playground will be located at 1113 Friarsgate Blvd., Irmo, SC 29063, within Rawls Creek Park, and is envisioned as a destination for families across Irmo and the greater Midlands region.
Crossbuck Play Space will feature:
-
ADA-accessible safety surfacing
-
Adaptive swings and inclusive play structures
-
Sensory-friendly play components
-
Interactive elements designed to accommodate children with physical, cognitive and sensory challenges
The project reflects the Town’s commitment to removing barriers and expanding access to meaningful, inclusive recreation opportunities.
“This play space represents our commitment to making Irmo a place where every child feels seen, valued and included,” said Bill Danielson. “Play should not have barriers. With the support of our community, we can create a space where children of all abilities learn, grow and build friendships together.”
Town officials are inviting residents, local businesses, civic organizations and community partners to invest in the project. Donations of all sizes will help bring Crossbuck Play Space to life and create a lasting legacy for families in the community.
“This playground is more than equipment and structures—it’s an investment in belonging,” Danielson added. “Together, we can build something that will impact families for generations.”
