Basketball season is underway at Chapin High School.
The boys’ team opened play by co-hosting the Tip Off at the Dam Thanksgiving tournament. They dropped their first two games at home to Lakewood 57-51 and Wando 74-65.
On the final day of the tournament, Chapin rolled past Batesburg-Leesville 91-50.
Tyson Ray scored 19 points and had five assists to lead the Eagles. Brendon McMahon had four 3-pointers and finished with 13 points, 12 rebounds and five assists.
The Lady Eagles are off to a 2-1 start. They opened the season with a 65-39 win over Greer as Brooke Holmes scored 14 points, Atyna Douglas had 12 points and five rebounds and Avery Belton finished with 11.
Chapin dropped a 46-44 decision to Laurens the following night. Reagan Haggard had 17 points, seven rebounds and three assists and Keke Wright added 11 points.
The Lady Eagles then rebounded with a 60-46 win over Seneca. Sami Stephenson had 14 points and eight rebounds, Wright had 10 points and four rebounds and Haggard scored nine points and grabbed six rebounds.
