District Five to hold Magnet Fairs to showcase offerings

Lexington-Richland School District Five is hosting two Magnet Fairs to showcase its specialized programs for students in grades 6-12 and elementary school. These fairs offer families a chance to explore the district’s various magnet offerings and speak directly with representatives from each program.

The first fair will take place on Thursday, November 21, 2024, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Irmo High School International School for the Arts and will focus on magnet programs available for middle and high school students. The second fair is set for January 16, 2025, at the Center for Advanced Technical Studies from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., featuring programs for elementary students.

Sara Wheeler, the district’s Magnet Director, emphasized the district’s commitment to providing high-quality academic choices to support student success. Programs represented will include a wide range of focus areas such as environmental science, STEAM, Montessori, leadership, international academics, and arts, covering schools from Dutch Fork Elementary’s Academy of Environmental Sciences to Spring Hill High School’s Career Pathways Magnet.

These fairs are a valuable opportunity for families to discover the unique educational pathways available to students in School District Five.
