Dance company to present Unbeing August 25, 26

Unbound Dance Company will present Unbeing, its third consecutive annual show August 25 and 26. Performances will be at 7 pm on both days at Dreher High School, 3319 Millwood Avenue, Columbia.

Unbeing explores the process of stripping away the layers of our past to confront the raw truth of who we are- – and who we want to be. The show features narration by Columbia theater director Jocelyn Sanders, and was written by Joanna Lewis Derrick, writer and sister of Caroline Lewis-Jones, who directs Unbound Dance Company along with Morgan Holton.

“On the heels of two successful shows, we’d like to thank our dancers, sponsors and patrons.

We could not do this — what we love — without the support from our community,” said Lewis-Jones. “As Columbia’s art scene continues to grow, we remain steadfast in our mission to educate and inspire dancers of all ages. We are excited to collaborate with artists, creatives, and individuals of all kinds to continue producing thought-provoking work, and striving to connect within our community.”

Tickets are $50 for Priority Reserved Seating or $35 General Admission and can be bought at www.unbounddance.com.

The same weekend as the show The Unbound Dance Intensive will be held at the USC Dance Studios, 324 Sumter Street. Open to ages 6-20, classes will be offered in all dance styles including Ballet, Jazz, Contemporary, Tap, Musical Theater, Hip Hop and Modern. Information can be found at www.unbounddance.com.
