Conservation Voters of South Carolina (CVSC) have announced a primary endorsements Dean Widener (Republican) for State House District 85 in Lexington County.
CVSC has chosen to support the candidate based on his commitment to conservation values and putting voters in their districts first regarding all issues facing our state.
Since 2016, CVSC PAC has invested over $825,000 in support of 184 endorsed candidates with an 86 percent success rate. The organization is confident that the endorsed candidate will champion policies that protect South Carolina’s natural resources — land, air, and water — and enhance energy independence through diversified energy solutions. This approach supports economic growth and addresses the state’s increasing needs without compromising natural heritage.
Widener served in the United States Air Force as a Logistics Specialist serving the majority of his active-duty career in the South Pacific. He left active duty and joined the South Carolina Air National Guard. He was the principal enlisted advisor to The Adjutant General and Assistant Adjutant for Air National Guard. He is the owner of Widener Life and Health, which specializes in serving National Guard Soldiers and Airmen throughout the United States and local citizens.
Widener’s platform is he will work to ensure first responders have the resources to respond to emergencies on time and ensure they are adequately paid. Dean will also protect the natural beauty of District 85 and implement solutions to handle the growth it has experienced.
Early voting for the Republican primary starts May 28 and runs until June 7. The polls are Closed on weekends and state holidays. Early voting centers are open from 8:30 am to 5 pm during the early voting period.
