The Chapin girls swimming team produced a state champion and a seventh-place team finish at the S.C. High School League swim meet championship at the University of South Carolina.
Chapin’s Jackie Bonavilla won the 200 individual medley and was second in the 100 butterfly. The Lady Eagles placed second in the 200-freestyle relay and Ella O’Shaughnessy was third in 200 and 500 freestyle.
VOLLEYBALL
The Lady Eagles look to lock down second place in Region 4-5A. They closed out with a road match Tuesday at Irmo and home match Thursday against White Knoll.
Chapin (16-3-1, 6-2) dropped both matches to first-place River Bluff and held a one-match lead on Lexington.
FOOTBALL
The Chapin football team dropped its eighth straight game last Friday.
It was defeated by Lexington 29-7. The Eagles (0-7, 0-2) play their next two games at home starting Friday against River Bluff and Oct. 24 against top-ranked Irmo.
