Statewide television offers an opportunity for both Chapin basketball teams to get on the winning track.

The two teams head to The Swamp to face River Bluff in a Region 4-5A contest. It’s the second Sonic Rivals Game of the Week scheduled by WACH 57 in Columbia (Channel 1250 on Spectrum).

Both Chapin teams entered Tuesday’s home contest against Lexington on 3-game losing streaks. They dropped their region openers on Jan. 9 to Dutch Fork at home by the scores of 69-26 (girls) and 68-47 (boys).

The Lady Eagles have won the last two meetings against the Lady Gators. The series is deadlocked at 10-10 each.

The Chapin boys look to snap an 8-game losing streak to the Gators. The Eagles are 4-14 all-time in the series and last defeated River Bluff on Feb. 7, 2020.

River Bluff boys entered Tuesday’s game at Irmo riding a 6-game winning streak. They are led by senior guard Yasir Cromer, the school’s all-time leading scorer, at 19.4 points per game.
