Chapin Police Chief Griffin Makes History as First Officer to Graduate from FBI National Academy

CHAPIN, SC – March 19, 2025 – Chief Thomas W. Griffin of the Chapin Police Department has made history as the first officer from the department to graduate from the prestigious FBI National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. Chief Griffin was among 244 law enforcement officers who completed the intensive 10-week program, designed to provide advanced training in communication, leadership, and fitness.

The 293rd session of the National Academy included officers from 48 states, Washington, D.C., 24 countries, 11 military organizations, and four federal agencies. During his time at the academy, Chief Griffin also earned an undergraduate certificate in Criminal Justice from the University of Virginia, further strengthening his expertise in law enforcement leadership.

FBI Director Kash Patel delivered remarks at the graduation ceremony, recognizing the graduates as some of the nation’s finest law enforcement professionals. He expressed gratitude for their dedication to public service and reaffirmed the FBI’s commitment to supporting them as they return to their communities.

Chief Griffin expressed his appreciation for the opportunity, crediting the support of his department and colleagues:
