Chapin Lacrosse Teams Take Diverging Paths Toward State Titles

By Thomas Grant Jr.

Both Chapin lacrosse teams have contrasting roads to the state finals May 3 at Irmo High
School.

After achieving perfection and a second state title, the Lady Eagles ended up in second place
behind Lexington in Class 5A Lower Region District 4.

With the creation of Class 5A Division I, Chapin finds itself possibly needing two road wins to
get back to the title match. Its quest started Tuesday at Cecil Woolbright Field against district
rival White Knoll.

The winner would then face Lower State second seed Lucy Beckham Friday in the next round.

Despite a season-ending 13-12 loss to Clover, the Chapin boys earned the Lower State top seed after winning its district. It received a first-round bye and will play host to the White Knoll/Socastee winner Saturday.
