Chapin High School welcomes Director of Bands

Chapin Bands welcomes Mr. Alex Clark. He is going to bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the Chapin Bands as you can see in his bio.

Mr. Clark is a native of Lexington, South Carolina and has lived in the midlands of South Carolina for most of his life. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from the University of South Carolina and is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree in Conducting from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Prior to his appointment at Chapin High School, Mr. Clark was the Director of Bands at Strom Thurmond High School in Edgefield, South Carolina from 2020 to 2023.

Bands under the direction of Mr. Clark have achieved tremendous growth and success. His marching bands have consistently placed in the top two at the SCBDA Lower State competition and in the top five in the SCBDA State Finals. His concert bands and jazz band have also performed successfully within the school, community, and competitively.

Mr. Clark is an active performer and trumpet player and holds membership in the Palmetto Concert Band and South Carolina Brass Band. Beyond this, Mr. Clark is an avid composer and has written music for concert band, orchestra, and commissioned marching band shows.

In his spare time, Mr. Clark is a sports enthusiast and loves to spend time with his wife of two years, Lauren, and his goldendoodle, Penny.
