In honor of the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution, the library invites you to explore local and national history through engaging programs this July.
On Thursday, July 9, at 6:00 p.m. The library will be hosting “Historically Speaking: Colonial Life in Lexington County.” Presented by JR Fennel of the Lexington County Museum, this program explores how Dutch Fork residents lived during the Revolutionary War, offering fascinating insights into everyday colonial life in Lexington County. This program is recommended for ages 14 and up.
Then, on Tuesday, July 14, at 2:00 p.m., the library will have two simultaneous programs Southern Campaign 1780 presents “Battlefield Stories,” an interactive look at life on the Revolutionary War battlefield. Attendees will learn about soldiers’ equipment, battlefield medicine, and the daily challenges faced by those who fought for independence. This program is recommended for ages 12 and up. While the younger (grades K-5) children can attend “Quills, Seals & Hats” and step back in time for the 250th Revolution.
