The Rainbow Restoration Charity Golf Classic was held May 13 at Cobblestone Golf Club in Blythewood and raised $118,500 for five beneficiaries diagnosed with cancer.
Reed and Heather Mattingly began the tournaments in 2012, and since then the Rainbow Restoration Charity Golf Classic has gifted a total of $900,992.88 benefiting 45 Midlands area moms battling stage IV cancer. The golf tournament will top more than a million dollars in charities next year.
Growing the tournament every year many former sponsors, teams and donors return while adding new ones to the Rainbow village. Teams and sponsorships sell out each year and the organizers alway have a theme for the golfers.
This year the “Back 9 Beats – where golf meets the groove” was a hit, especially with the beneficiary families as sponsors and golfer dressed up their tents with musicians, recording paraphernalia and impersonating rock stars. The main purpose is giving the beneficiaries families a day of fun without the focus being on cancer. The golfers engaged the beneficiaries around the course and made them feel seen, supported and enveloped with a lot of love.
Next year’s tournament will be May 12, 2027. It will be the 15th anniversary celebration with sponsorship registration opening in early November, and team registration will open in early January.
