As Chapin/Newberry Post 193/24 seeks its first win in American Legion League III play, its greatest team will celebrate a special anniversary Friday.
The 2015 American Legion World Series champions will be honored during a non-league matchup with the Joanna Hornets. Players and coaches from that 32-1 team, which became the first Palmetto State team to win the title since 1936, are expected in attendance.
Meanwhile, the current team is in last place at 0-4 in the League III standings. Last week, it was swept in three games by front-runner West Columbia Post 79.
Chapin/Newberry’s next league game is Monday against Lexington Post 7.
