IRMO – Ten Lexington-Richland School District Five schools have been recognized with Palmetto Gold and Silver Awards from the SC Department of Education for academic achievement and student progress on State Report Cards.
Ballentine Elementary (Silver), Chapin Elementary (Gold), Chapin High (Gold), Chapin Intermediate (Silver), Chapin Middle (Gold), Dutch Fork High (Silver), Lake Murray Elementary (Gold), Piney Woods Elementary (Silver), River Springs Elementary (Silver), and Spring Hill High (Gold).
The Palmetto Gold and Silver awards program was established by the South Carolina General Assembly as part of the Education Accountability Act (EAA) of 1998. The program recognizes and rewards schools for attaining high levels of absolute performance, high rates of growth, and for making substantial progress in closing the achievement gap between groups of students, according to the Department of Education.
“We are incredibly proud of the dedication and hard work demonstrated by our students and educators,” Chief Academic Officer Tina McCaskill said. “Having 10 of our Lexington-Richland School District Fiver schools earn Palmetto Silver and Gold Awards is a testament to their commitment to academic excellence and student growth. These recognitions inspire us to continue striving for even greater success.”
